Luxembourg take 12th in Dutch Curling Event (Zoetermeer)

Zoetermeer 08-2014   Curling Luxembourg has returned from an international tournament in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, where they finished 12th in their second warm-up for the European Championships in October.

In a tournament that attracted a line-up of no less than 18 teams, of which no less than 13 were representing different national teams, Luxembourg defeated the Dutch National Women’s team to earn a 9-3 victory.

After defeats (some in very close games) against teams from Spain Ladies (6-8), Finland (mixed) (4-12) and Spain-Juniors (7-11), their third match for 11th place against Zoetermeer ended up a 3-8 loss.

Luxembourg was represented by Alex Benoy (skip), Yannick Hansen, Marc Hansen and Claude Schweitzer continue to prepare for the European Championship in October.

JOERG MOESER (LUX) and his team WINNER OF THE 39th EDITION OF THE COUPE DE L’AMITIE!!!!

Joerg Moeser (lead and skip), Marc Promme (second), Yves Sieradzki (Third) and Yannick Hansen (Fourth) from the CURLING CLUB LETZEBUERG win the 2014 edition after a strong battle with VIRY-CHÂTILLON (Paris) in the final in the extra end (draw after 8 ends).
Yannick Hansen (17 years) gave his team the win with his last stone, a difficult hit and roll.

The Coupe de l’Amitîé 2014 was one of the highest level played tournament the last years in Luxembourg.

The 16 participating teams battled strongly as there were not less than 8 matches finishing with a draw and the first 10 teams won all between 17 and 19 ends!!! Closer results were nearly not possible.

All teams promised to come back for the 40th edition in April 2015.
